All Green groups are encouraged to use direct actions creatively in ways
appropriate to their communities. It is important to plan and study before
engaging in direct action. Affinity groups should be formed when doing
civil disobedience. Greens are encouraged to build coalitions with
like-minded groups and constituencies, both in planning and as a result of
direct action.
We support all forms of nonviolent direct action, including civil
disobedience. We neither condemn nor publicly advocate monkeywrenching (a
term for direct action in support of the Earth taken from the title of an
Edward Abbey novel), believing that such forms of resistance and creative
sabotage should be left to individuals and their own consciences.
